IELTS TRAINING

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is designed to help you work, study or migrate to a country where English is the native language. This includes countries such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and USA.Your ability to listen, read, write and speak in English will be assessed during the test. IELTS is graded on a scale of 1-9. 

IELTS TEST TYPES

IELTS has two types: IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training. Both tests assess your English language skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking.

IELTS Academic

The IELTS Academic test is suitable for those wanting to study in an English-speaking environment or university (higher education). You can also take IELTS Academic for professional registration purposes. The test measures if you are ready to begin studying in English. It features vocabulary that is familiar within an academic setting. You can choose whether to take IELTS Academic on paper, on computer or online at home or other suitable location.

 

General Training

The IELTS General Training test is suitable for those applying to study below degree level. This includes an English-speaking school or college. It can also be taken for work experience or other employment training  .IELTS General Training is also required for migration to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the UK. The test features everyday English language skills that you will need in social and workplace environments IELTS General Training is available to take on paper and on computer only.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR IELTS EXAM

IELTS Modules

There are basically four modules of IELTS as states below:

This module consists of 40 questions, where one has to listen to a conversation for 30 minutes. Afterwards, a candidate gets 10 minutes to note down the answer on the answer sheet. 

In this module, candidates go through one to one interaction of 10-15 minutes with the examiner. 

It includes 40 questions that are to be solved in 60 minutes. There will be a total of three passages and around 12 questions in each passage with a time constraint of 20 minutes for each passage.

It comprises Task 1 and Task 2. The test time for the writing module is 60 minutes, where one has to give 20 minutes to Task 1 and 40 minutes to Task 2.

PTE means Pearson Test of English Academic. It is an online exam to examine the academic English language ability of non-native English speakers who wish to study abroad. It comprises four tests: Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. In this test questions are framed to test two skills in one such as listening and reading or reading and speaking. The entire test is conducted in one session for three hours. It is an online exam that is conducted under a secure test environment.

PTE Academic

Accepted globally for university study and by the Australian and New Zealand governments for work and migration visas. PTE Academic tests your skills in speaking, writing, reading, and listening in a single, two-hour test. 

The three parts of the test

There are 20 different question types in the test, ranging from multiple choice through to essay writing. Make sure you review the different question formats ahead of your test, as each part has different types of questions.

Part 1: Speaking & Writing

54-67 minutes

This part of the test contains seven different question types. It tests speaking and writing skills, using English heard in an academic environment.

Part 2: Reading

29-30 minutes

This part of the test contains five different question types and tests the ability to read academic English. One item type assesses both writing and reading skills.

 

Part 3: Listening

30-43 minutes

This part of the test contains eight question types and tests listening skills, through a series of audio and video clips.
